Mr. Frank Svet is President and CEO of The Edison Materials Technology Center. His prior work experience includes senior management positions with General Signal Corporation, Taylor Instrument Co., a division of Asea Brown Boveri (ABB), Tektronix Inc., Harris Corporation, and AMETEK Corporation as Division Vice President and Vice President and General Manager of the Test and Measurement Instruments Division. Frank is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, and an associate member of the American Federation of Communications and Consulting Engineers. Mr. Svet is a Registered Professional Engineer in New York and has been awarded 4 United States Patents and has won numerous awards for new product innovation and development including pioneering work for today’s High Definition TV and Digital Radio. Frank holds a BSEE and MSEE from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, New York.
Mr. Robert Shinkle is Vice President of Administration and Government Relations at the Edison Materials Technology Center (EMTEC) and has been with EMTEC for over 15 years. Robert, an investment banker & commercial pilot, served as a political strategist for many years in Michigan before accepting an appointment inside the Voinovich Administration. At EMTEC, Robert has been responsible for initiating several key new program initiatives including EMTEC’s Hydrogen Program (hydrogen generation and storage), CTeC (Collaborative Technology Clusters) with the Air Force Research Laboratory in addition to numerous State supported initiatives. Robert serves on the boards of the Ohio Energy Project, BuyCastings.com Inc., and has served on the boards of the Miami Valley Venture Association, the National Center of Industrial Competitiveness and the Sugar Creek Township (Greene County) Zoning Board of Appeals. Robert also serves on OEP’s executive committee as Treasurer. Robert has a keen interest in our nation’s energy, technology and aerospace policy issues and its impact on future economic development.

Mr. David Swenson, Vice President – Business Initiatives with The Edison Materials Technology Center (EMTEC), has nearly thirty years experience in managing commercial and governmental programs with P&L responsibilities in a variety of business initiatives including business start-ups and divisions of larger corporations. His career has involved senior management positions in marketing/sales, strategic planning, and manufacturing functions. Mr. Swenson has a diverse technical background covering multiple industrial materials, technologies, and processes. These include materials and technologies used in alternative energy sources such as solar cells and fuel cells as well as other unique technologies including ceramics, coatings (CVD inorganics and organic/polymeric), infrared materials, and controlled release systems. Mr. Swenson holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Union College, an MBA with a concentration in Finance from the University of Dayton, and is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society. In addition, he is an internationally invited speaker on technology and innovation, on the Advisory Board of the Dayton Entrepreneur Center, and is the author of six technical papers and two book chapters. He also has extensive international business experience (Far East, India, Europe, and South America) with previous affiliations including TFL, Morton International, and Albany International.
Dr. Michael C. Martin – Vice President Alternative Energy Technology is responsible for EMTEC's expanding role in fuel cell technology including the hydrogen program. Dr. Martin received a BSEE from Arizona State, an MBA from UCLA, and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Materials Science from University of California at Irvine. Dr. Martin has more than thirty five years experience in engineering design, product manufacturing, and business development in both very large corporations (i.e. General Dynamics) and very small companies (Composite Specialties Inc.). He has designed and manufactured over a hundred products utilizing circuit design, electromechanical controls, and/or electro-optics technology. Many of these product lines grossed over a million dollars including several using a patented infrared sensor. Dr. Martin’s broad based technical and fuel cell background includes superplastic ceramic deformation, impedance spectroscopy, grain boundary microscopy and solid state ionics. Dr. Martin has authored more than 8 technical papers/presentations and is member of the International Society for Solid State Ionics, American Ceramic Society, and the Materials Information Society.
Jon VanDonkelaar – Vice President, Product Development, brings with him over 25 years of experience in engineering, commercialization, and new product development. His previous positions includes officer of the company and Vice President of Engineering at Mercury Instruments, Inc.; Senior Engineer, Product Manager of OEM Radios at Northrop Grumman Corp.; Manager of Engineering and Manufacturing at Bass Inc.; and officer of the company and Vice President of Engineering at Energy Innovations, Inc. a subsidiary of DPL Inc. Along with his career, Jon has had 4 publications and is currently affiliated with the University of Dayton Engineering Technology Industrial Advisory Council and the Sinclair Community College Industrial Advisory Council. Mr. VanDonkelaar holds a BSEET from the University of Dayton.
Mr. Gary Walzer is Senior Principle Engineer Alternative Energy Technology at EMTEC, and is responsible for the development and execution of advanced materials technology development programs in alternative energies. Mr. Walzer has extensive experience in technology commercialization and business management. He has led the investigation into commercial opportunities several new technologies including energy storage systems, fuel cells, and coal-based electric generation technology. Mr. Walzer has also conducted market assessments, developed product entry strategies, and managed sales and marketing programs. He has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. His over 25 years of industrial experience includes Corning Glass, Allegheny Ludlum Steel, Carnegie Mellon Research Institute, Battelle, and the Taratec Corporation.
Ms. Georgeta Nistor, Director Finance for EMTEC has over 26 years of accounting and finance experience in Europe, Canada, and the USA including extensive banking and senior management experience for over twelve years. Ms. Nistor has extensive finance/accounting experience for multiple government contracts from a variety of federal and state government agencies including US Dept. of Defense, US Dept. of Energy, US Dept. of Labor, US Dept. of Commerce and the Small Business Administration, and the State of Ohio Department of Development. Georgeta is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of Ohio Society of CPAs.
