Accelerating New Technology To Market

Technology
Materials and Processing (M&P) technologies include materials such as metals, ceramics, composites and polymers and the unit processes that convert these materials into marketable products, such as casting, forging, heat treating, machining, coating and finishing.
Partners
Colleges and universities, government laboratories, and a multitude of industry members. See Member Page
Organization
The EMTEC consortium is composed of a small management staff and members from industry, academic and government. The center's mission, corporate policy, goals and technical agenda are determined by the membership. Two governing bodies, the Board of Governors and Technical Steering Committee, are controlled by the industry members. All work is accomplished through approved projects with well-established, industry-driven objectives and an approved cost, schedule, and deliverables list.
Services
All services are specifically structured to help maintain or increase a member organization's competitiveness in the world market. This is accomplished through a combination of problem solving activities designed to remove obstacles to competitiveness and the introduction of new, low- to medium-risk technologies to provide an edge in the marketplace. Emphasis is on advanced development, transfer and commercialization of M&P technology by Ohio industry.
Working with EMTEC
Services are normally offered only to members of the Center or members of other Edison Centers. Results from Core Technology Projects are generally owned by the EMTEC membership.
Membership Fees
EMTEC membership fees are determined by the total number of employees.
Service Fees
Members of EMTEC have access to a wide range of services: Core Technology Projects, Requests For Help (RFH), Special Projects, Defense Conversion/Manufacturing Assistance, Casting Technologies Advancement Programs and Small Business Support Programs.
Core Technology Projects
Member-directed projects that seek to bring maturing technologies to the factory floor or marketplace. Projects receive State matching funds on a one-for-one basis for every non-state dollar invested in the project, and there is no additional mandatory cost for members. Requests For Help combine the resources of academic institutions, the major federal laboratories and other industry members to help solve short-term problems at no additional cost to members. Special Projects are vehicles for funding proprietary research with an optimum team mix and extremely low overhead charges. Casting Technologies Advancement Program provides focused technology assistance to metal casters at little or no additional costs to member companies. Small Business Support Program provides financial, legal, business, marketing and technology assistance to small and start-up companies; up to four hours at no cost and after four hours, pay at a rate towards a membership.
Members of other Edison Centers...
may access the RFH service at a nominal rate, but never to exceed actual cost, and may commission Special Projects under the same terms and conditions as full members.
