How Do I Become a Member?
From industrial companies of all sizes, to federal laboratories, academic institutions, and civic organizations, these are the members and partners of EMTEC...moving forward together to solve industry's most pressing materials and manufacturing process problems.
The Benefits
An EMTEC membership is an investment that can repay itself many times over with just one request for help or access to a single technology development project. Since 1987, EMTEC has completed hundreds of industry-driven projects. Your membership lets you benefit from every one of them, plus all additional projects that lie ahead. Additional benefits include:
-
Immediate assistance with your most critical, "short-fuse" challenges.
Exceptional leverage of your R&D investment with State grant funds and other member funding sources.
-
Productive interaction with industry peers, potential customers, and nationally recognized experts in your area of interest.
-
Access to over $1 billion worth of existing, in-place resources at no cost to you, including the sharing of resources, expertise, and technology products of the U. S. Air Force and other federal laboratories.
-
Specific technology needs met through specialized programs such as Castnet.
And there's more. With EMTEC, you lower the risk of adapting new technologies because our entire network is standing behind you. You also put your company's dollars to work on new concepts and improvements, not reinventing solutions to problems already solved.
How is EMTEC Funded?
EMTEC is funded by the Ohio Department of Development's Thomas Edison Program, the National Institute of Standards and Technology's Manufacturing Extension Program, other government contracts, direct project investment, and your membership dues. Combined, these funds help you remain viable in the commercial markets of Ohio, the Nation, and the World. EMTEC's not-for-profit status enables the Center to qualify for matching funds from both the State of Ohio and the Federal Government. That means every dollar you invest in EMTEC is leveraged many times over.
EMTEC's 'Big Idea'
The 'big idea' behind EMTEC is to grow the economy by applying existing technological strength where the market most needs it. The reason this idea has worked--and will continue to work--is that the needs of the private sector (EMTEC's industry members) come first in determining EMTEC's path and directing EMTEC's priorities. The focus is clearly on near-term industrial needs and problems, not basic research. In other words, industry is in the driver's seat. That is why EMTEC works.
The Costs
INDUSTRIAL MEMBERSHIP (Class I): The industrial membership fee is based on the number of member company employees. For companies with multiple locations, the fee structure will apply separately to each location receiving EMTEC benefits. Companies receiving funding from EMTEC must be cash paying members. Companies paying directly for services provided by EMTEC are encouraged, but not required to be members.
ACADEMIC MEMBERSHIP (Class II): A single fee applies to each Academic institution, regardless of size.
